Porsuent to the program of the International Relations and Protocol Office - Division of Protocol of the Portuguese Republic Assembly in partnership with the East Timor Embassy in Lisbon, confirms the visit of His Excellence the President of the National Parliament of the Democratic Republic of East Timor, Dr. Fernando “ La'sama“ de Araújo to Portugal is planned for four days between 11th and 14th of February of 2008.
It treats the first official visit of La'sama de Araújo since he was elected in 2007. The same source related that Mr.La'sama group integrates six elements of the National Parliement member. They are, Dra. Ana Pessoa, Dr. Lucas da Costa and Ir. Mário Viegas Carrascalão. The aim of the visit is to restore the bilateral cooperation between East Timor National Parliament and the Portuguese Republic Assembly due to the parliamentary subjects and to meet east timor community ou students who are living in Portugal.
The visit of H.E. the President of the PN-RDTL will star firstly from Coimbra District (center of Portugal) on Sunday morning, 11 of February, in order to meet with the local authorities and the east timorese students who leaves in the district. The President of the ATC, Félix de Jesus confirmed the such visit to the ATC-online through the fax that he received from the East Timor Embassy in Lisbon on Friday afternoon.
The ATC representative specified that the parliementary group will be received firstly by H.E.Dr. Avelâ Nunes, the Deputy head of the Coimbra University (UC), at 11h00, following another meeting prepared by East Timorese Academic association of Coimbra (ATC) at the Cultural Center of Dom Dinis from 11h50, in which, Dr. Fernando La´sama de Araújo will listen to the aspirations of the students and the community and will speak through an Open Fórum organized by the ATC Direction Board for an hour, before moving down to the Municipal Office of Coimbra (CMC) which will be welcome solemnly by the Distric head, Dr. Carlos Encarnação.
The ATC spokeman underlined the importance of the visit “ … it is an honor for the east timorese students of Coimbra … ” and “ … was one of the objective of the ATC Direction Board for the period of 2007-2009. This is the second time visit, after the visit done by our Foreign Minister Dr. Albano Zacarias da Costa to Coimbra last year and to promote a permanent dialog between us and with the sovereignity organs… ”portuguese version]
At the time ATC consist of 65 members who are estudying at the university level.
